Script of the Day: jQuery Showcase

jQuery Showcase is a small, fast, beautiful new tool for creating simple image slideshows.

It's a tool fit for showing a featured content slider on a homepage, a small slideshow in a site's portfolio section, for animated image albums applications, only to name a few of the many use scenarios.

Surprisingly for such a low-key tool, jQuery Showcase even comes with some basic support for fluid layouts, resizing the main image and thumbnails list to fit the slideshow as much as possible on the screen when the browser is resized or accessed via a device with a smaller screen.

As for the thumbnails list, no worries, all thumbs are created automatically via jQuery from the original images, so developers won't have to tinker with Photoshop or other image resizing software to create smaller versions of their featured images.

And for the feature list to be complete, jQuery Showcase supports captions as well, for adding a small HTML descriptions to every image if needed.
