Private Messages in Google+ Hangouts

Hangouts has been Google+'s standout feature and this is as true today as it were a year ago when the site launched. It's the one thing Google+ can boast that no one else offers. And Google keeps making it better. One latest addition is a private message option, for when you need to pass something to just one of the people in a hangout.

The private message feature was developed by a couple of Google interns and works like you'd expect. All you need to do is type "/to [the name of who you want to talk to]" in front of your message.

Granted, a UI of any kind would have been nice, it's going to be hard for people to discover this new feature. The feature is smart though, you don't have to type the exact name, just use a short version, something that won't apply to more than one of the people in the conversation.
