Play Super Mario in Your Browser with This HTML5 Game Boy Color Emulator

The web as an app platform is still in the early exploratory stages where people try to see what's possible. That's not to say that there aren't solid, powerful apps built on HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript already.

It's just that there's a lot more potential in the tools that are available. And the tools are also improving at a fast rate.

The fact that people are still exploring and pushing the limits of what web technologies can do means that we get things like a Game Boy Color emulator, written in JavaScript and running on HTML5 canvas, to enjoy.

Anyone who knows a thing or two about emulators knows that they require magnitudes more powerful CPUs than the ones they're emulating to run smoothly.

Granted, the Game Boy Color isn't exactly a powerhouse and there have been other emulators written in JavaScript, but being able to play Super Mario or Donkey Kong in your browser is surprising and impressive.
