Play All of the Four London Olympics Google Doodle Mini-Games

The London Olympics are practically over, all that's left is the closing ceremony. For 17 days, Google has been running a new doodle, one dedicated to the main event of the day. Most of them were cute but simple, static images. But for four days straight in the last week, Google did something special and made the doodles playable.

These four games certainly livened up the 2012 London Olympics doodle lineup. And they very likely ended up making a lot of people waste a lot of time on them, time in which maybe they should have been working.

Or maybe some of you didn't have the time to get the perfect score or missed them when they were live on the Google homepage.

Thankfully, Google is making available all four games for you to play and get the highest score you can muster.

Oh, and don't forget, you can use a gamepad for any of the games, as long as you're running Chrome, to squeeze out the best possible score.

Hurdles

The first mini-game doodle was dedicated to the hurdles event. The goal was to reach the finish line as fast as possible by pressing on the left and right arrow keys, in succession, as fast as possible and clearing the hurdles by pressing space.

It sounds simple, but it is not, it's probably the hardest game doodle in the series. Everyone can finish, sure, but it's hard to clear all of the hurdles and get a good time at the end.

This game is very similar to the infamous QWOP, one of the hardest games ever made, where you also need to get your runner to the finish line.

Basketball

The very next day, Google had a game doodle dedicated to basketball. The goal is to shoot as many balls through the hoop before the time runs out.

You have to get your timing right, i.e. how long you keep pressing space, to make sure the balls end up where you want them. If you're doing good, the game tries to trip you by moving the player further out, making the shots harder.

Slalom canoe

The third game of the series was maybe the most fun. You have to paddle as fast as you can, again by pressing the left and right arrow keys as fast as you can, but you also have to steer to make it through the poles and avoid the obstacles, i.e. rocks in the river or even frogs that pop out in front of you and slow you down if you hit them.

Football (soccer) goalie

The final doodle of the four games was dedicated to the football event. In the game, you are a goalie and you have to defend against a relentless stream of balls coming your way. The goal is to survive as much as you can without letting the ball through. There's no time limit on this so if you successfully defend yourself, the balls will start coming faster and faster.
