Peter Moore Praises EA and BioWare Collaboration

Despite the sometimes harsh reactions from fans, publisher Electronic Arts and developer BioWare are very happy with their partnership and results like Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Peter Moore, the chief operations officer at Electronic Arts, has told Eurogamer, “You say the last 12-18 months, I think of three things: I think of Star Wars: The Old Republic, I think of what Mass Effect 3 has done and all of the offshoots we’ve done of that, and then a little bit further back Dragon Age. So from that perspective I think the studio has done great.”

The executive also addressed the issue of strong player reaction to Mass Effect 3, adding, “It’s been interesting with the whole ending thing. It’s a fascinating debate. More power to gamers. They have the outlets now. I always say, people are passionate about movies, people really like music, people are into their TV shows.”

Moore believes that much of the fan reaction to video games is driven by the fact that they have more passion than any other entertainment consumers and they have numerous outlets through which to express their feelings.

The executive also supported BioWare’s decision to actually change the ending of Mass Effect 3 saying that it reflected the dedication of the development team.

BioWare has become one of the largest studios inside Electronic Arts and it recently established a strategy-oriented development team, called Victory, which is now working on Command & Conquer: Generals 2.

The game will not include a single-player component on launch and will be offered under the free-to-play model.

BioWare has already said that it has plans to deliver more downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, for both the single and the multiplayer side of the game.
