Patch 5.0.4 for World of Warcraft Is Now Live

Blizzard has launched the 5.0.4 patch for its MMO World of Warcraft, the last major update for the game before the introduction of the new Mists of Pandaria expansion, which is set to be delivered on September 25.

The core elements introduced in the 5.0.4 patch include Achievements that are enabled across all account, new mounts and the pet system.

World of Warcraft also gets access to cross realm zones, allowing gamers to quickly find other gamers to group with in the more barren areas.

Players will also be able to loot an area rather than a specific corpse, which should speed up one of the more tedious aspects of the MMO.

The system will be fully enabled in all zones before September 25 and is now ready in a number of areas.

Blizzard has also announced that it will launch a new worldwide event before Mists of Pandaria is launched, called Attack on Theramore Isle.

The event will see the island attacked by Warchief Garrosh and as the event wraps up the continent of Pandaria will be revealed.

The new expansion for World of Warcraft is designed to introduce a series of new areas, a new race, a new class and a rebalanced skills set for the ones that are already available in the MMO.

Blizzard stated that Mists of Pandaria was designed to give long-term fans of the game reasons to continue playing the game while introducing elements like the pet battle system which might draw in a number of new gamers.

The company also has plans to introduce more content to the game via major patches after the expansion is launched.

World of Warcraft is still be biggest subscription-powered MMO in the world of gaming and seems to be the only one that can maintain its business model in the long term.
