iPhone 5 to Matter a Lot for FPCB Makers Bottom Line This Year

Industry watchers in China are keeping a close eye on the bottom line of one of Apple’s key suppliers for the iPhone, Career Technology, anticipating a spike in profits in Q3 and Q4 of 2012 for the printed-circuit-boards manufacturer.

Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes reports that Flexible PCB maker Career Technology has been doing well lately (no need to bore you all with actual figures), and that they’ll be doing even better in the coming months. The reason? Apple’s iPhone 5.

Although Career does business with many industry players (not just the fruity company in Cupertino, California), a Chinese-language Commercial Times report indicates that “FPCB makers will see their sales climb higher in the third quarter and reach a peak in the fourth, buoyed by the launch of a new iPhone,” according to DigiTimes.

Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone, or the iPhone 5 (as the media still refers to it) is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2012, the report states.

Other companies capitalizing on the launch of Apple’s new iPhone include Zhen Ding Technology Holding and Flexium Interconnect, according to the Chinese newspaper.

Analysts and pundits alike all agree that Apple has scheduled a special event for September to unveil its next-generation smartphone.

September 12th, which falls on a Wednesday, is said to be the exact day Apple plans to lift the cloth off its latest and greatest iPhone.

The specs sheet is said to include a four-inch display, a bigger form factor with a redesigned (unibody) chassis, a metal & glass design, better cameras both on the front and on the back, relocated and / or altered ports and physical buttons, and a particularly small dock connector which might just become a standard specification across all iDevices starting this fall.
