The development team at The Creative Assembly has emphasized the focus on human emotion and drama that would be at the heart of the upcoming strategy game Total War: Rome 2.
He added, “We want to create that level of human strife, drama and character on a very macro-scale amongst these gigantic battles at the same time.”
Total War: Rome 2 uses the Ancient Roman setting, which is already familiar to the long-term fans of the series, and the team has promised that it would offer a larger strategic map, including more factions and cultures, while also expanding the scope of the tactical engagements.
The Creative Assembly team has also revealed a focus on the decisions that players would make, with more choices and bigger effects as the game progresses and less focus on tedious micro-management.
The introduction of more human emotion to the strategy series might prove to be a problem for the long-term fans of the brand, who have been asking for better Artificial Intelligence opponents and more historical realism.
The Creative Assembly team has yet to show clear details about the way the new combat system works.
Total War: Rome 2 is set to arrive exclusively on the PC during 2013.
Creative Assembly has also suggested that the next generation of home consoles would have enough processing power to allow its star series to make the jump.
