Bungie Looking for Destiny Project Beta Testers

Video game developer Bungie has announced that it is looking for beta testers who will work on the new game that the company is developing for publisher Activision Blizzard.

The developer states that those who are interested in becoming beta testers need to have a valid account on Bungie.net and an e-mail address.

Their role is described by Bungie as to help the company “continue making improvements to our playlists, features, and online community and the potential to help us shape our glorious future.”

It’s not clear exactly how many players will be able to join the beta testing process, but the developers are talking about hundreds of thousands of gamers, which might be an exaggeration, who are linked to every region and territory on Earth.

Their exact roles will be:

- Playtests and usability testing at Bungie;
- Surveys on game playing habits;
- Alpha and Beta Testing for the next Bungie game.

Bungie has a long-term contract with Activision which involves the development of a new franchise and a new universe, with the first game linked to them set to arrive during 2013.

The development team has not offered any clear details on the game, which is named Destiny at the moment, but rumors suggest that the core structure of the game is that of an MMO which has a lot of elements brought over from the shooter space.

The setting of the game will be a science-fiction one and gamers will be able to interact with the game using a number of devices, including handhelds.

Destiny will first be launched on the current generation of home devices, but it will then make the jump to new consoles from both Sony and Microsoft.

Bungie is best known for the work they have done with Microsoft on the Halo series, which is now under the leadership of 343 Industries.
