Apple Pulls Controversial Genius Ads

In a surprise move, Apple has pulled its new Mac (Genius) TV commercials from the Olympics, with ad agency TBWA/Media/Arts Lab informing the press that this was the plan all along.

Reaching Apple’s ad agency for a comment, Mashable learned that “The ads were intended only for a ‘first run’ during the Olympics, which meant just the first weekend of the Games,” according to a company representative.

To be noted that this statement did not come from Apple - which, unsurprisingly, could not be reached for comment - but the company doing business with the Cupertino giant to market Apple products in the most original ways possible.

Some believe it was actually the controversy behind the ads that got Apple to think twice about airing them. For what it’s worth, the spots can still be viewed on Apple’s web site.

My question is, wouldn’t they have pulled them from their site too, had they been as appalling as some members of the media say?
