Adobe Updates Illustrator to CS6 16.0.1

Adobe released an update for Illustrator, their vector-based drawing software. The new revision is a maintenance release designed to solve a set of issues uncovered in CS6 (16.0).

The repairs eliminate problems such as unexpected termination of the program if you have read-only permissions on the Preferences folder, the display of "Unable to set maximum number of files to be opened" error on launching Illustrator or “Save for Web” option not creating images with the specified size, on some occasions.

In some cases, Illustrator would quit on Windows 7 when moving the cursor inside the navigator panel.

Additional fixes refer to issues with drop shadow/outer glow effect with editing in downsaved documents, sometimes leading to a crash.

Another eliminated glitch is with the “Save as PDF” dialog box, which would not accept any settings if the file had already been saved as PDF with Compression > Compress Text and Line Art option disabled.
