PQI Launches Small and Fast U822V Speedy USB3.0 Flash Drive

PQI has initially launched the capless U822V USB flash drive in May 2012 and the “Speedy” model launched today is using the same design and transfer interface as the “old” one, but it likely has new NAND flash chips that have much better write speed.

The characteristics of the NAND inside the PQI U822V Speedy are clearly different as the top read speed has suffered a loss when going from U822V’s 90 MB/s to Speedy’s 88 MB/s, but a less than 4% reduction on such a high read speed is acceptable.

The real improvement is reportedly in write speed and here the new PQI U822V Speedy is rated at a high 66 MB/s.

Comparing this to the 18 MB/s write speed rating of the initial PQI U822V drive lets us see just what “Speedy” means.

The new drive has 370% the write speed of the previous model and this is a worthy performance improvement.
