Ubuntu 13.04 Release Schedule

Now that we're all waiting for the final release of the Ubuntu 12.10 (Qantal Quetzal) operating system, due for release on October 18th, we can take a look at the release schedule for the next major release, Ubuntu 13.04.

Yes, there's no codename for the Ubuntu 13.04 release, yet, but we can tell you right now, right here when it will be released, and when its development releases will be out. Therefore, it looks like Ubuntu 13.04 will see the light of day on April 25th, 2013.

For Ubuntu 13.04, the developers decided to return to a normal development cycle and modified the release schedule to two Alpha version, one Beta release and one Release Candidate. Without further ado, here's the official release schedule for Ubuntu 13.04, extracted from Ubuntu Wiki:

December 6th, 2012 - Alpha 1 release
February 7th, 2013 - Alpha 2 release
March 7th, 2013 - Beta release
April 18th, 2013 - Release Candidate release
April 25th, 2013 - Final release of Ubuntu 13.04

As you can see, the first Alpha release will be unleashed to testers worldwide this year, on the 6th of December, but the actual development will start next month, on October 25th.

Keep in mind that this release schedule is just a draft at the moment and that it could change in the near feature, as the development for Ubuntu 13.04 hasn't started yet. But worry not, as we will modify this article in case it will change.

Mark Shuttleworth, father of the Ubuntu operating system, will be the one to announce the codename for Ubuntu 13.04. When? Most probably before the official release of the upcoming Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Linux distribution.

Don't forget to visit our website this Thursday, September 27th, where we will publish an in-depth article about the second and last Beta release of the upcoming Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) operating system, and unveil more of its nice features.
