Video game publisher Electronic Arts and movie distributor Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that they are working together in order to mark the launch of the new Zero Dark Thirty movie and that of the shooter Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which will see the two companies donate a minimum sum of 1 million dollars (783,500 Euro) to a number of programs that are offering support to veterans of the United States armed forces.
The donations are linked to the Zero Dark Thirty Map Pack for Medal of Honor Warfighter and EA will channel a portion of the sales to its Project HONOR campaign.
Peter Moore, the chief operating officer at Electronic Arts, added, “Medal of Honor Warfighter is inspired by real world events, real operations, and real warriors. We’ve teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment to give back to the Special Operations community in honor of the sacrifices they and their families have made for their country and to connect people to the story of the greatest manhunt our world has seen.”
Zero Dark Thirty is a movie that tracks the secretive team of operatives that has hunted Osama Bin Laden since the September 11 attacks.
The movie is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who already has an Oscar for her previous effort, The Hurt Locker, and will be in theaters on December 19.
The Zero Dark Thirty map pack, which will be known as Hunt in Europe, introduces two new maps based on possible hiding locations for Bin Laden and is out on December 17.
