Parallels Desktop 8 users are getting their first update which delivers improved support for multi-display configurations, better Full Screen views, fixes for issues with Flash video, and more.
Parallels Inc. is rolling out the first incremental update for Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac, the latest major release of the company’s flagship product.
It offers a seamless experience between the separate environments, such as copy & paste between the two OSes, as well as integration with the latest additions in OS X Mountain Lion.
For example, you can now launch Windows apps from Launchpad, OS X’s system-wide application launcher.
Parallels Desktop 8.0.18101.797180 is now available for grabs. It brings improved support for multi-display configurations that include Retina and non-Retina displays, as well as improved Full Screen support in single and multi-display configurations.
An issue reported by users regarding Flash video playback in the Chrome browser for Windows has been addressed, as well as one with the keyboard malfunctioning in the Coherence (non-Crystal) view mode.
Another issue, this time with the mouse moving too fast on Mac computers with Retina displays, has been fixed as well. Apparently, the cursor misbehaved when SmartMouse was disabled.
Customers can expect improved behavior when dragging and dropping between OS X and to Windows 8. Apparently most complaints came from owners of Mac computers with Retina displays again.
Finally, the developers of Parallels Desktop have included a new preference to disable hiding or showing Parallels Desktop using the F6 key.
Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac requires a Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor. According to the specs sheet, Core Solo and Core Duo processor are no longer supported.
