Confirmed: Pirate Bay's Gottfrid Svartholm Charged with Hacking Swedish Firm

It has been confirmed that Pirate Bay founder, Gottfrid Svartholm, who's just been shipped off back to Sweden from Cambodia, where he had been living for the past few years, was charged with other crimes besides his involvement with The Pirate Bay.

Swedish prosecutors have now confirmed (in Swedish) that he is suspected of being involved in the hacking of Logica, an IT company that handles some services for the Swedish tax office. As a result of the hack, tax records leaked online.

A couple of other individuals were arrested in relation to the attack this summer. Svartholm's attorney Ola Salomonsson finally managed to meet him earlier today and confirmed the new charges.

While the details on the new charges are still to come, Svartholm will start serving his pending sentence in The Pirate Bay case soon enough.
