Android Still Needs a Lot of Polish, Matias Duarte Says

Matias Duarte, the Android design boss who has been responsible for most design decision in Android since Gingerbread, still feels that the platform has a long way to go before turning into what was planned.

Many have criticized Android for its design inconsistencies, and Duarte responded in a post on Google+, admitting to those and noting that a lot of work has to be done to truly polish the platform.

“It's true, we still have a lot of work to do. Personally I feel like I've gotten only about a third of the way to where I want to be with regards to consistency, responsiveness, and polish. Better get back to work,” he stated.

Apparently, this is not the first time he makes such comments related to Android, which suggests that Google might have a long-term design plan for the mobile platform.
