A Gamers Week: September 2

This week we have two Softpedia reviews: one for The Political Machine 2012, a Stardock-made simulation that allows players to try and become President of the United States of America, and one for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, the PC-based version of the notoriously unforgiving action and role-playing game created by From Software.

When it comes to Gamer Diaries, we have the usual two, detailing my experiences while playing the Sword of Islam expansion for the grand strategy game Crusader Kings II and offering more information about the recently ended Gamescom 2012 trade event in Germany.

Moreover, we deliver the Weekend Reading features: one about anger in video games like Dark Souls and Orcs Must Die 2 and another about how the compilation blockbuster, like Sleeping Dogs, is on the rise.

As always, we have a selection of the most interesting news from the past seven days, as well.

On Monday, the development team at 343 Industries revealed that just the Spartan Ops mode for Halo 4 was bigger than all of ODST while Blizzard offered more details on the changes made to talent trees in the 5.0.4 update for World of Warcraft.

On Tuesday, we found out that a potential sequel for Dishonored might be more focused on the role-playing game aspects and Bethesda revealed the new Hearthfire downloadable content for Skyrim, which will focus on home building.

Wednesday brought us news that Funcom revealed The Secret World had low sales and announced a shift towards smaller game and Activision unveilled the Hardened, Care and Deluxe editions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

On Thursday, the Scorestreak system for Black Ops 2 was revealed and Hideo Kojima unveiled the new Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

On Friday, the Dawnguard Skyrim launch for the PS3 was delayed and the number of DLC packs for Borderlands 2 was revealed.

On Saturday, Square Enix announced the new Lightning Returns for Final Fantasy XIII while the Goblin Menace expansion was announced for Trine 2.
