Sports Interactive and SEGA Officially Announce Football Manager 2013

Developer Sports Interactive and publisher SEGA have announced the core features of the upcoming Football Manager 2013, including more in-depth simulation options and a new Classic Mode that’s designed for those who lack the appetite for a full game.

The Classic Mode is less time consuming than the core game, simplifying the way managers handle their clubs and allowing them to take a team to the top without worrying about all the nuts and bolts of management.

An entire season can be played in about 8 to 10 hours and a new Challenge Mode is even shorter, putting players in the middle of a situation that they need to solve in half a season.

Football Manager 2013 includes a new match engine, which delivers more realism, and new staff roles, including more specialized trainers and a new position of Director of Football.

There are also more options linked to media interaction and more ways to tweak the training of the player in order to get the best performance out of them.

Sports Interactive has also introduced changes to the user interface and to the multiplayer game modes.

Probably the most controversial addition to Football Manager 2013 will be the new unlockable features, which can be obtained via play or by playing, and allow players to remove some of the more niggling obstacles in the game, like work permits.

Miles Jacobson, who is the studio director working at Sports Interactive, has stated, “The introduction of FMC is a major step forward in Football Manager’s evolution. In recent years it’s become clear that there’s a large group of people who would like to play Football Manager, but simply can’t devote the time required to get the most out of the game – in fact, now that they have families and other commitments, even some members of the SI team have found themselves in this position.”

He added, “For those who still want the full, ‘hands-on’ experience, FM13 offers exactly what they’re looking for – a bigger, better and even more immersive version of the world's greatest football management simulation.”

Football Manager 2013 will be out on the PC and Mac before Christmas.
