The development team at Obsidian has revealed that players will get access to a number of game modes in Project Eternity which will allow them to up the difficulty level and test themselves against the limits of the skills.
This means that players will get less help navigating the world of Project Eternity and that the entire experience will be more immersive.
Trial of Iron is similar to the Ironman Mode in Temple of Elemental Evil, with just one save game that needs to be used throughout the campaign and just one death for the main character, which automatically forces the save to be deleted.
Path of the Damned is described as the spiritual successor to the Heart of Fury mode in Icewind Dale, making battles tougher and more brutal by allowing all enemies to appear in all combat encounters, regardless of player rank or party composition.
The development team also talked about the Godlike races that will be added to the game, which are seen as blessed by some of the deities in the world of Project Eternity.
Both the game modes and the Godliike races will be added to the game as long as the Kickstarter crowdfunding effort manages to get above the 2.3 million (1.78 million Euro) mark.
At the moment the game is just over 2 million dollars (1.63 million Euro) and there are more than 46,000 people backing it with 19 more days to go for those who want to contribute.
Project Eternity will be a classic party based role playing game which will use an isometric perspective.
