LinkedIn "Got Better" After Twitter Breakup, Founder Reid Hoffman Boasts

LinkedIn and Twitter used to go together like peanut butter and chocolate. But that was before Twitter decided it was too cool to hang out with boring old LinkedIn or the unwashed masses of developers building on top of its platform.

Or rather, before Twitter decided that there's no better friend than Benjamin Franklin. Lots of Benjamin Franklins. Taking a cue from Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," perhaps, LinkedIn is now saying that it's better off without Twitter.

"At first I was afraid, I was petrified," said LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman during a TechCrunch Disrupt interview.

Well, actually, what he said was: "We were alarmed, one of the things that we wanted was the liquidity of the set of a status updates, and thought that it was a natural part of the Twittersphere. We were pleasantly surprised at the fact that the product got better."

The video above is from when Twitter and LinkedIn first got together.
