LG Bluntly Lies and Misleads Customers on IPS7 Monitors

In a surprising development, one of LG’s customers that bought a new monitor belonging to the IPS7 series has posted a video about his own disappointing experience with the new display that he bought.

The main issue is the fact that the Korean company advertises that the monitor has an amazingly thin 1.2-millimeter bezel while the reality is completely different.

Even though the external plastic casing is indeed very thin, not all of the apparent display area is available to the user as a good 10-millimeters wide sheet around the edge of the monitor is always black and thus unavailable to the user.

This is basically the bezel that’s now covered with the same external material as the whole screen surface and, when the monitor is off, it leaves the impression that the display actually reaches from edge to edge.

Moreover, even LG’s own marketing material uses photoshopped images that show the monitor displaying the image from edge to edge with no visible black inner bezel.

Retailers in Germany selling the LG IPS237 and IPS277 monitors have quickly withdrawn the products from the shops and are now trying to clarify the situation with LG.

There are rumors that Philips branded monitors actually suffer from the same issue, but we’re waiting for more info on that.
