Developer ArenaNet has offered more information on the approach that the team has taken when it comes to the end game of Guild Wars 2 and has also offered the player base information on the balance of the MMO.
Mike Zadorojny, who is a quality assurance manager working at ArenaNet, has stated on the official website of the game that, “We want the experiences that players will have while progressing through the game to be a journey that they take with their character, something that they will remember and cherish.”
He added, “As players reach the max level of 80, the dynamic events become larger, the battles more spectacular, the circumstances more dire. Each of the high-level maps in the corrupted land of Orr contain battles on a grand scale against Zhaitan’s forces, an epic war with shifting fortunes and frontlines.”
Zadorojny says that the launch of Guild Wars 2 allows the player base to understand the philosophy of the team and that ArenaNet can now focus on delivering new event types, new bosses to battle, new dungeons to raid and new areas to explore.
The team will not intervene directly in Guild Wars 2 in order to make balance changes at the moment because they want to see the meta-game settle down before observing patterns and player habits.
Jon Peters, who is a designer working on the MMO, encouraged players to explore the skills they had access to and try to counter enemy moves and tactics before reporting them as overpowered.
Once the team has a solid baseline, they plan to introduce a number of balance changes.
