Google Plants a Flag for Labor Day, Bing Uncovers Ugliest Bee Photo Ever

Today's Labour Day in the US which, ironically, means that most people aren't working. Normally, an occasion like this means a Google doodle, in the US at least, but that's not the case. While Google usually celebrates US-specific holidays, it doesn't do something special for Labor Day. In fact, Google usually celebrates the international Labor Day, on May 1st.

That said, so no Mitt Romney fan has reason to call Google unpatriotic, the site does have a waving American flag on the homepage, below the logo and the search box, in the space regularly reserved for earthquake notifications and Nexus 7 ads.

Bing is also running a Labor Day-themed image, a photo of bees, get it, worker bees - labor day. Very subtle, obviously. Whoever's in charge of the daily photos at Bing must have been in a really hurry to get home for the long weekend, cause that must be the ugliest photo on the Bing homepage in a long time.
