Four-Year Development Cycle Makes GRID 2 a Better Game Experience

The four year development cycle for the upcoming GRID 2 is a sign of how serious the development team is taking the new racing game and how careful they are to only launch the game once they are sure that it has the quality to once again revolutionize the genre.

Clive Moody, who is an executive producer working on GRID 2, has told The Official PlayStation Magazine that Codemasters “wanted it to be fantastic and we wanted it to be fantastic. I guess in the grand scheme of things four years is a maybe little longer than we would’ve liked to have taken over it, but you know, there’s good reasons behind that and I think we’ll have a much better end game experience for being able to take that time.”

He added, “I think that’s one of the cool things about Codemasters – they really understand what we do within the development studio, so there was absolutely no pressure on us to rush the game.”

The developer says that the main aim of the development team at the Racing studio of Codemasters is to create a racing game that’s believable and allows players to experience “holy moments” when playing.

TrueFeel Handling System is the biggest addition to GRID 2 and it will allow players to enjoy fast and aggressive racing with a full system of physics powering all the interaction between the car and the environment.

The game will revisit the locations seen in the first title in the series and will also add new racing spaces as the gamer engages with a career mode that introduces a new class of competitors powered by a new, smarter Artificial Intelligence.

Codemasters is saying that GRID 2 will be out on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 during the summer of next year.
