Facebook Allows You to Review and Delete All of Your Previous Searches

Facebook's always pushing for more sharing, for good reasons, it makes its product better and it can also earn it more money. But it's been coming up with a few new, simpler ways of controlling your privacy on the site.

The Activity Log is a good example, introduced last year, it enables users to see their recent activity and check whether they're sharing something they'd rather not.

Now, Facebook is adding searches to the tool, so you can review them all and remove them from your history.

Obviously, no one can see your search history but yourself, but if you simply want it gone from Facebook, you can now do it.

"Just as you can choose to delete any of your posts, you can use the same inline control on Activity Log to remove any of your searches at any time. It's important to remember that no one else can see your Activity Log, including your search activity," Facebook explains.

The feature is not yet live for everyone, in fact it may take a few weeks before searches are added to your Activity Log. That's just how Facebook works, when you have close to a billion active users, any change takes time.

When it becomes available, you'll be able to check out your search activity and remove it if you want, from the Activity Log on your Timeline, just pick "Search" in the activity sorter. Just remember that you're probably not going to see it there just yet.

Facebook also recently made it possible for websites and apps to incorporate the same type of controls via the Shared Activity plugin.

This allows developers to make it possible for users to see what they share and with whom from the website or app, without having to visit Facebook itself and dig through the settings and privacy controls.
