BioWare Is Working on New Game Universe

Developer BioWare has announced that it is working on a whole new game universe, although the company has not offered any sort of information on it and has not stated when it might be making an official announcement about it.

Aaron Flynn, who is the leader of the BioWare development studios in Montreal and Edmonton, has stated, “While Casey continues to oversee the development of our new Mass Effect project, he and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology.”

BioWare has long been known for its ability to create new gaming universes from scratch and then maintain the interest of gamers in the long term.

The recent Mass Effect series has so far spawned three core games and another one is teased at the moment while the Dragon Age setting has also sustained two full games, with Dragon Age III: Inquisition already confirmed as being in development.

Flynn also talked about the way the company would evolve after its founders leave, saying, “Ray and Greg built BioWare to last. They’ve always known their retirement would come one day, so they developed a team of people who would ensure their standards and culture would endure. We’ll humbly carry that torch and continue learning in the process.”

Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have announced that they are leaving the company in order to pursue their own interests, saying that they have achieved what they were interested in doing when they choose to create BioWare in 1995.

At the moment, BioWare is also working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, the MMO that was launched in late 2011, and has long-term plans to offer content for it after the game moves to the free-to-play model in November.
